Fox in the Snow
Looking for a place to shelter from the cold. Of course, it might help if I’d remember to wear my coat out.
As it is I’m only part wrapped up today, the look starting with a sweater that was part of a Happy Holidays Hunt gift. While the black does cover up a lot of the detail I really like the design; I’m a particular fan of the prim sleeves, which are pushed back up from the wrists, slouching casually in a way that’s rather different to much of what else I’m seeing on the market at present. Made to be worn as a dress, if you choose to wear this cropped you can layer up with other pieces using the underpants part to cover midriff.; the seam’s a touch visible if you were to look too closely, but as a freebie this isn’t an issue at all. Song of Songs
It’s a funny time of the year to be walking alone.
Bare Rose is one of those stores that I visit infrequently, but every time I pop in I wonder why I’m not there more often. June Dion’s store is bursting with inexpensive outfits with everything from fantasy to casual styles. You do have to sift through, but it’s definitely worth it to locate gems like this cropped jacket from the Snow Smile set. For less than L$200 you’ll get several entire outfits – recolours of the same thing – but since the items are also transferable you can either load up on options yourself or kit out your friends and alts. This fur-trimmed coat has a suede feel and comes complete with wide half sleeves, the open front ornamented with popper fastenings on thick leather straps. It’s cute and cosy, well worth the sale price alone although you’ll also get sloganed tops, denim shorts and sash belts for your money. Read the rest of this entry »

Ride On
I got me some horses – to pose with at least.
This look started with the lower section, drawing inspiration from these unusual trousers from LeLutka. The pants are hipster style with exaggerated side pockets that hang wide from the body, contrasting against the skinny legs. There are leather straps of various lengths that accentuate the excess, contrasting in colour with metallic hoops decorating the lengths. The pants are sold in very few shades and are a little pricey for a single pair, but I do like that they’re something different which was what ultimately convinced me to part with my Lindens. LeLutka isn’t somewhere I shop too frequently. Historically that’s because of the horrendous lag I always experience on the sim, but I have to say that their new build seems far more friendly to the busy shopper and I’ve found myself there more and more of late. I spotted this pretty mac and couldn’t resist – it’s the sort of coat you can wear through the seasons, and it does sit well over whatever else you might have on. Read the rest of this entry »

Change Your Spots
You can imitate a wilder nature at least.
I picked up this smart-casual jacket from NINIKO a few weeks ago now and thought it was about time it featured in a look. Detailed with buttons, cuffs and side pockets, you’ll notice I’m not wearing the collar piece here – some jackets can be easily broken down and re-worked with scarves and sweaters, and this is a good example. You will have to content with the chest piece breaking a little in certain poses (the overlay of the upper section would have hidden that) but unless you have a particularly outlandish AO it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Miel have released a gorgeous new set of clothing which couldn’t wait to be blogged. Elle consists of separates in various colours with several options of tone and texture per piece giving you huge variety from just a few purchases. Colour Collision
I had a little extra time today so I made sure I did a swoop on Fifty Linden Friday. I picked up a few bargains which I’ve worked into this look, although there’s all manner of new and old pieces worked through the styling. Hopefully you’ll already have one or two in your inventory, which always helps with the budget.
One of my first stops was lamb where I picked up a new do for next to nothing. This style is a rework of one already in store, featuring a thick fringe cut across the brow with the rest of the hair falling in smooth, soft waves that stop just below the shoulders. Long Grass
Funny – it doesn’t look any greener this side.
I’ve picked up some lovely new clothes this week, and did particularly well at AOHARU. Among the new releases is this sexy silk blouse, unbuttoned to the chest and billowing open to the wide, fold-back collar. Once fitted it’s pretty AO-friendly for the most part; while no-mod it does feature a resize script, but if you’re considering wearing with other prim-based clothing you may want to make sure it can be modified to easily work around. For the camera
Smile for the camera… sure, the crazy balance thing is good too.
Casual clothing can be just as involved as the dressier looks, often relying on accessories in the same way to pull everything together. You have to start with the basics though, and for this look that means a rollneck sweater from Maitreya. There is some great knitwear on the grid, but I like this piece particularly for its precise sculpts. The neck is a snug fit, but is slightly loose and uneven making it a bit more interesting – the long sleeves share these traits, and combined with the two included options of sheer and opaque styles, it makes this jumper a tidy buy. Dandelion Fluff
There’s not much left of the Summer, but Miel have given me reason to draw it out a little longer with their gorgeous new Dandy release. The dress comes in two parts and there are options for solid or floral print versions – or buy the ‘uber’ style and get all colours interchangeably for maximum options. Dandy won me over with the fine details; the top is a halter style with pretty bow ties set on top of the shoulders. The skirt is sculpted with a petal-effect on the base, the layers pulling up on the sides of the legs. They’re detailed with baggy side pockets, tied with draw strings, the right side featuring a bouquet of dandelion clocks after which the set is named.
