Me and a Gun

(or two).

Sometimes it’s entertaining to strut around an RP sim looking like you’re going to hail bullets down on the first try-hard that crosses your path*. It’s also a fantastic ego-boost when many of those too scared to try and communicate in character with your apparently kick-arse persona stoop to IMing you and complimenting you on your wardrobe. I do so love the metaverse.

This look is based around the outfit Nardcotix created for the Rezzable ‘The Future is Now’ event (ending February 3). Every post-apocalyptic gunslinger needs her own skin-tight leotard, and the texturing on this one has just the right feel, deep creases running all over with stretch to the sleeves into which arms must have been long teased and coerced. A zipper fastening runs to the length of the body, drawing up around a stiff collar that covers the throat. The back is set with a glossy plate on top of the bodysuit, running wide to the shoulders and drawing in along the spine, right down to the gusset.

Gauntlets and shoulder armour add to the grittiness of this look. To emphasise I paired up with part of a set from DE Designs: Lacrymosa comprises a number of pieces on various layers – typical of Doc Eldritch’s elaborate designs – I’ve worn the rigid breast plate and the stockings which draw just above the tops of the boots, giving an appearance something like a gothic door hinge wrapped at the thigh. It’s unusual, but under the circumstances oddly suited. The chest piece particularly fits right in, drawing down from beneath the shoulder caps to oval cups with sectioned cutouts around the frame. The central gore appears broken with a more sturdy strap securing with a silver catch to the middle of the back.

The leg ribs, belt and garter pull everything together; the placement of the belt is undeniably suggestive, standing out far more than if this had been wrapped about the waist. I like the roughed up leather texture and crude stitching: the numerous raised eyelets for the buckle fastening make a great feature, working alongside the panels sets specifically for storing shotgun shells and your favourite virtual weaponry.

Thigh high boots are not always easy to come by, but this pair from J’s fit the bill perfectly. The rich latex snaps to the leg, lightly wrinkled for a realistic rolled on effect. They run down to a platform sole with stiletto heel, simply formed but nicely put together: three length options are included for each colour. Do be aware that the leg of the boots sits on the shoe layer making it a little tricky if you are intending to wear these with standard layer pants. Shorts, skirts and lingerie work beautifully though.

I needed sharp accessories for this style, but I really didn’t want to overcook it. Gos’s Razor shades proved ideal, particularly in these stunning iridium lenses. Razor are a sleek design, angled earstems with a sleeved mid-section leading to half-surround lenses, set with a sturdy arch across the nose. Aside from the fact that Gos’s primwork and texturing is second to none, the script systems are fantastic – from recolouring to resizing, flipping your shades up on top of your head in a button press, morphing shapes and customising tint on the lenses, these are so completely customisable that you can work them into as many of your styles as you like.

To finish, a sassy style from Truth that I’ve covered before – for my money it’s one of his best short styles and although from the name it was aimed more at the gents, it’s definitely unisex. Also of note is the skin from 5th&Oxford which I reviewed in more detail on Fashion Cracked (take a look for more of the body and the fantastic makeup) – 5th&Oxford really has put together some wonderful shades for the faces, but the body is also lovely to look at, especially the backside which is beautifully rounded and simply begs to be worn with outfits like this.
