Room with a View

“Have you ever noticed that there are people who do things which are most indelicate, and yet at the same time – beautiful?” – E M Forster

It’s not quite Florence, but I managed to find myself a room with a view. While my chaperone went to see the signora about rerouting the Arno, I tasked myself with a little photography to share my latest look with you.

I picked up this jacket from Honey some months back. It’s well worn, much loved for its cropped and open style under which you can flaunt your latest and greatest tops and tees. The prim collar and sleeves fitted me perfectly out of the box; the texturing is good with bright highlights to the arms and back and raised seams running appropriately throughout.

This black and white top is part of a House of Fox set. The bodice sits close to the skin, the stomach strapped with black leather, falling to a skirted hem at the waist. I love summery tops like this with a little shape to them, and in this colouring you’ll be able to mix and match with most of your wardrobe. Worth noting: the shading going around the chest and under the arms is unfortunately rather blurred, but if you layer up you won’t have any issues. As the skirt is quite floaty you may benefit from an undertop to pull everything together in motion – a little place cami would suffice. To accentuate the shape I tied in with an Armidi belt that could have been made for this outfit.

One of my favourite pieces from this styling are the trousers by Truth. With a suede feel on the material, these feature pocket details front and back, with wide waistband and central seams down the thighs. Subtle creases add depth, although its leg cuffs that really make these stand out, oppen zippers running up the leg, a slight flare giving these fantastic shape.

Boots are from J’s, pushing up on a platform base with an extended stiletto heel, smooth curves and shiny leather working up the leg. These boots come with three sock layers so you can extend the boot up to thigh height if you want to: the short version was ideal here.

Accessories are minimal: the choker is from Pluto and was an opening gift, but while you can’t get this exact pendant anymore you will find some similar styles in store. On a leather strap, the four point star with silver embellishments and a central stone, the pendant breaks up the neckline without overwhelming. I’m also wearing part of a new set from SiSSi which I am utterly besotted with – just the ring with this look, but the whole set runs in a similar vein featuring metal beaten into a spiralling square.

Truth’s Emme added a touch of softness with its floating fringe that tumbles down over the eye, hair pulled to a knot at the side and bound with a colour change bow that can also be removed it if suits your mood. Belleza’s Elle provided the perfect backdrop; aside from the gorgeous makeup and striking features, I do adore the mouth on this skin which is very flexible in the range of shapes it will suit. It’s rather fun to modify your shape slightly to suit the mood for a picture, and Elle gives plenty of leeway for demure pouting and confident smiles.
