A little continental

There’s very little I recall from the language lessons I had as a child, but should I ever find myself stuck in France with a few Euros and nothing else, I take solace in the fact that I could always locate a bakery and ask for a chocolatey pastry, even if all else was beyond me.

General ignorance aside, I’d like to share ‘The French Bakery’ pose set with you. I was sent a review copy by Flix Saiman of CLICK and was very excited by the vibrant street scene. Built with the professional photographer in mind, this continental set comes complete with Boulangerie, flower stall, fountain and cafe seating area and is loaded with dozens of static poses.

There are so many elements that make the CLICK set so impressive, not least the visual detail in the set itself. Operation is simple: you rez the set from a box using the included HUD or rezzable control panel – if you purchase more CLICK sets you can load them in too and scroll through your purchases to select which scene to set up. Once your main set is up you can opt to add the various extra props included or of course set up your own, then jump on the couples or singles pose box and select from a vast number of poses to suit. Male and female variants are included (although a lot are pretty unisex and you can alter positions to cater for different heights) and while I’m making a solo effort here, the set will take up to 20 avatars at a time and recall all their tweaked positions, meaning you could create a bustling street scene in next to no time. Cleanup is equally simple and requires only another button press on the HUD or control panel.

I was so delighted by the set that I ‘ported straight over to the store and promptly bought another diorama to shoot in (I’ll show this in the next couple of days). At the moment most of the sets are on sale for a mere L$500 so I recommend getting over there while you can to snag a few bargains.

For parading around the French streets I chose a casual look, starting with one of the new Zaara tops which quite demanded immediate purchase in every colour. With a skirted base falling from beneath the cupped upper, the silk top is richly decorated in multi-toned print, separate panels of colour and pattern brought together as one. Suspended from thick straps that cross to the back, you can layer over or under to great effect.

The little undertop I chose is from Gfield, a bolero top in its short-sleeve variation. It’s both feminine and versatile, featuring long and cap sleeve versions in each colour. As I picked a rather contrasting tone for this look I matched up with a bright pair of flats from Ingenue to even things out – sometimes it’s quite fun to add something unexpected for a dash of colour and a deep pink goes well with the olive and gold tones used elsewhere.

For a stock pair of jeans that will work with anything, you can’t beat this washed pair from Decoy. They’re well drawn for realism featuring the appropriate creases, details and fade, with prim cuff options. I opted for slouchy legwarmers instead, favouring this new pair from tram.

Jewelry Fair is now open with four sims featuring some fantastic designers. There are a lot of new to me stores and some fresh faces too, as well as my existing favourites including Dark Mouse. I’m all for unusual pieces that can be dressed down as well as dressed up, and Mouse Mimistrobell never fails to delight me with her eclectic range of pieces in various metal tones. I chose copper for this look, showing two of her new necklaces and a pair of earrings. The Obsidian Eye set features cut gems raised in embellished metal settings, chained together close to the throat. Beneath this I wore the Baroque Flower necklace, running on a long line with open flower head suspended above the chest, a dazzling stone to its centre.
