Gothica

We’re all a little strange. It’s just some people are better at hiding it than others.

Carina Larsen of Amacci was kind enough to send me a review copy of her latest skin, Irina. Irina comes in 5 tones, but as it happens I was already working on this look when I saw Irina and immediately chose gothic to work with. There are 16 makeups to choose from, including a couple of barely there looks (handy if you wish to apply other tattoos over the top) although the makeups are very well done and cater for the individual skin colours, so I think you’ll be hard pressed to walk away without picking up a few. I did add some extra mascara and a tattoo on the brow – Glam Affair’s offering at The Dressing Room a couple of weeks ago – for some added drama, but the vivid purple alone leaves quite an impact. There are skin demos available in store, but if you wanted to try the goth skin out then Carina’s released a gift to her group in an exclusive Pumpkin coloured makeup. Definitely worth stopping by the store and having a look.

Black and purple are the colours to play for and they’re brought out perfectly in this otherworldly top from Leezu. The Van Elisabeta Jacket is an off the shoulder piece with the most peculiar accents on the cups of the bodice – tiger’s eye stones, I’m sure of it… material runches beneath, flowing across the body, pulled artfully apart to reveal the lighter under top. The back is low with a printed silk panel to match the delicate puffed sleeves.

The trousers were a find from Spirit Store which has several shades of these fancy denims available. The patterning is crisp and interesting, inverted to either side with excellent detail on the seams, back pockets and stitching throughout. These are designed to be worn as capris, but work wonderfully with knee high boots.

Gos’s Burlesques are an easy favourite for me. You buy the boot with colour change to 6 shades, but even if you just pick them for one you’re getting more than your money’s worth. Immaculately crafted with sexy lace up fronts and leather accents across the soft satin, they zip to the back and finish with a black band on top. The beauty of these boots is that they can be custom fitted to your avatar with various sizers in the HUD to stretch, widen and scale – you can even get a friend to help you by standing on the supplied pose stand and handing over control.

For jewellery I chose a set from GANKeD; low priced and it still looks fantastic on. Diamond cut amethysts are set to the ring and earrings, with the necklace featuring a mixture of shapes of stone, strung together neatly with a three strand drape arcing down to the bust.

Hair is from Truth, an older style but one that I love for a bit of volume and impact. Featuring colour-change hairband, the Anise style can be whatever you make of it, most at home in a casual setting with her slightly wild waves that bounce off the shoulders.

Poses are all new from Glitterati; if you haven’t checked out the store recently, there are stacks of fabulous new pose props as well as singles poses like these going for a song. Whether you’re looking for expressive styles, something more modelesque or a way of shooting your sculptie skirt without having your hands thrusting through the material, the latest three ladies poses packs will see you good. There are also some great new couples and friends poses in store if you’re a little less of a loner.
