Frosty Starlight

There for all to see, if you’re only looking…

Even by starlight my feet are looking particularly fabulous cocooned in Gos’s seasonal Slouch Boots. The original boots were released a couple of weeks ago but Gos have just put out a festive quartet colour pack in the same style. The soft leather boots are calf-high, creasing down the leg and set upon a raised wood base with studded join surround and ringed harness detail about the ankle. I’m wearing them in red tartan, but you can also choose from green argyle, silver and gold; the metallics are particularly fun, perfect for accompanying your New Year’s Eve party look and generally good for adding some sparkle to your style. It just felt like a grey day.

I used this new top from Ingenue as a base for the style. Available in the usual plethora of shades, Aquallerist is a stylish and feminine piece perfect for winter wear. With soft cowl neck draping down to the front, it also features puffed sleeves that close tight around the wrists, further detailed with a gradient effect on the edging that darkens the tone. This does crop right at the waist so may leave some flesh showing with many of the lower-waist skirt and trouser designs – I’ve fended that off here by popping on a long tank from Jane. As all colours of this top are free, you may want to pick up a few tones while you’re there. Read the rest of this entry »

Change Your Spots

You can imitate a wilder nature at least.

I picked up this smart-casual jacket from NINIKO a few weeks ago now and thought it was about time it featured in a look. Detailed with buttons, cuffs and side pockets, you’ll notice I’m not wearing the collar piece here – some jackets can be easily broken down and re-worked with scarves and sweaters, and this is a good example. You will have to content with the chest piece breaking a little in certain poses (the overlay of the upper section would have hidden that) but unless you have a particularly outlandish AO it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Wiccan Wood

An enchantress of sorts. A whitish witch.

I’m posting this a little early in the hope that you’ll still be able to catch the accessories from Whippet & Buck. It’s the last day of Jewelry Fair today, so if you want the necklace or bangles you’d better run along and pick them up as I don’t know when or if these will appear in the Whippet & Buck mainstore. Both are very reasonably priced, the bracelet with one pearl and one diamond bangle over laid, finished with a little bow on the top. The necklace is just as sweet, a metal ribbon pendant suspended on a chain dotted with pearls among the links. Read the rest of this entry »

A little continental

There’s very little I recall from the language lessons I had as a child, but should I ever find myself stuck in France with a few Euros and nothing else, I take solace in the fact that I could always locate a bakery and ask for a chocolatey pastry, even if all else was beyond me.

General ignorance aside, I’d like to share ‘The French Bakery’ pose set with you. I was sent a review copy by Flix Saiman of CLICK and was very excited by the vibrant street scene. Built with the professional photographer in mind, this continental set comes complete with Boulangerie, flower stall, fountain and cafe seating area and is loaded with dozens of static poses. Beguiled Again

I’m innocent. In my own eyes at least.

Hair Fair 2010 is playing host to a wide range of designers: some current favourites, some fresh faces and others who we’ve known and loved but seem to have been quiet for a while. Decoy re-emerged recently with an offering at the Shoe Fair, and for the Hair Fair we have new releases including the adorable Leah. This static style has a long fringe obscuring one eye, the face framed by lengths of hair that fall before the pull back to an upturned ponytail. I love how the style graduates from back to front, tidy with a little carelessness lending character. Leah has a natural youth and sweetness to her but as a finishing touch I added a butterfly hair grip on available free from ByKay. It comes in various stone and metal combinations and can be worn with any do. Read the rest of this entry »

Vain as a Peacock

Sometimes it’s fun to strut.

I started this outfit with a piece from the new Elymode release. The Estreia set is rather daring as a whole, but you can break it down and mix and match with your existing wardrobe. Elysium Eilde offers various suggestions in store for how to use the different parts. Some pieces are part-layered so you may need to be aware of that when looking at possible stylings, but the underbust corset is certainly versatile enough for pairing with skirts as seen here. Detailed with light boning and scattered star pattern, it’s slightly sheer so depending on your wear you may need to consider a carry through on the under layer to ensure a consistent colouring; I used part of a girdle from Maitreya, but in this instance anything black would have done. Dandelion Fluff

Posted in Fashion, iheartsl, MV-SL-Fashion tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 2:03 pm by Fayne Khandr

There’s not much left of the Summer, but Miel have given me reason to draw it out a little longer with their gorgeous new Dandy release. The dress comes in two parts and there are options for solid or floral print versions – or buy the ‘uber’ style and get all colours interchangeably for maximum options. Dandy won me over with the fine details; the top is a halter style with pretty bow ties set on top of the shoulders. The skirt is sculpted with a petal-effect on the base, the layers pulling up on the sides of the legs. They’re detailed with baggy side pockets, tied with draw strings, the right side featuring a bouquet of dandelion clocks after which the set is named. There’s also a hand-held bouquet sold as part of the set, with a particle effect that sends seeds spinning clear from your hands at intervals. Read the rest of this entry »

Blue Skies

Engaging with that unrecognised sensation; so purely, deeply, beautifully blue.

I’m wearing a dress from ORTA, Valena Glushenko’s new brand. A gown with a difference, Sophie is supported by a thick strap across one shoulder with a wide, flowing skirt that billows around the legs. It’s rather unique in its style, glamorous with a hint of Monroe, executed in brilliant detail. I particularly like the inner lining printed with a dark pattern, made easily visible as the hem draws up on the thighs. Read the rest of this entry »
