Enemy

Welcome to 2011.

The look started with a bargain buy from The Dressing Room Blue. It’s so worth scouting around The Dressing Room’s two stores every now and then as you will often find a piece or two you fall in love with that are a fraction of their usual store price, or exclusive to the sale rooms. This jacket from Emery is fun to wear, pseudo-military with its studded, high and angular collar. The shoulder pads mimic the other lines, jutting out although not in as much of an exaggeration – the cropped coat crumples all the way down the sleeves and maintains a softness through the body, moving well with most AOs. It does use up a lot of attach points, but if you use the official SL viewer you can simply add any other accessories, eliminating possible clashes. Read the rest of this entry »

Song of Songs

It’s a funny time of the year to be walking alone.

Bare Rose is one of those stores that I visit infrequently, but every time I pop in I wonder why I’m not there more often. June Dion’s store is bursting with inexpensive outfits with everything from fantasy to casual styles. You do have to sift through, but it’s definitely worth it to locate gems like this cropped jacket from the Snow Smile set. For less than L$200 you’ll get several entire outfits – recolours of the same thing – but since the items are also transferable you can either load up on options yourself or kit out your friends and alts. This fur-trimmed coat has a suede feel and comes complete with wide half sleeves, the open front ornamented with popper fastenings on thick leather straps. It’s cute and cosy, well worth the sale price alone although you’ll also get sloganed tops, denim shorts and sash belts for your money. Read the rest of this entry »

Industrial Safari

Sometimes it doesn’t take very much to make an impact.

There’s a definite ‘less is more’ feel to this styling, based around this fabulous dress top I picked up from Emery. There are so many colourful and interesting pieces to be found in sunami Beck’s store, so when you shop there you’re bound to find a few things to catch your eye. This is a recent favourite, the shift running long enough to work as a dress (a little resize may be required) or cropped a little to be worn with leggings and jeans if you prefer. It’s pieced together very well for continuation of the pattern across the prim, although the sleeves didn’t sit quite as intended on my shape. You can stretch and scale but I think they’re intended for a slighter figure to show their full draped form, so I settled for the angular cap sleeves over my shoulders which I think look just as good. Srsly… GTFO

For a boot that’s bang on-trend look no further than Gos’s new GTFO boot, the ultimate in style for this season.

Calf-high for a look that will work with just about anything in your wardrobe, GTFO is military inspired with an edge about it that lends itself to all kinds of stylings. I’m wearing the boot in stone, a distressed suede with contrasting leather straps; there are 8 colours in all, with the textures chosen to match the feel of the boot, from pristine leather to more scuffed and worn versions in tones ranging from a rugged khaki to feminine icy white. You can buy single boots and wear as shown or opt for the various fatpacks which allow you to colour pick buckle and leather, customising to suit your personal taste. As usual, the boots are crafted to the highest standard with immense detail in everything from the scuff marks to the stitched surrounds, the subtle shadows and sharp accents. What’s more, Gos’s on-touch HUD features multiway resize to ensure you can fit the boots precisely to your shape, ensuring a custom fit on every avatar: that’s why this boot will look as good on you as it will on any model.

Change Your Spots

You can imitate a wilder nature at least.

I picked up this smart-casual jacket from NINIKO a few weeks ago now and thought it was about time it featured in a look. Detailed with buttons, cuffs and side pockets, you’ll notice I’m not wearing the collar piece here – some jackets can be easily broken down and re-worked with scarves and sweaters, and this is a good example. You will have to content with the chest piece breaking a little in certain poses (the overlay of the upper section would have hidden that) but unless you have a particularly outlandish AO it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. This Woman’s Work

Posted in Fashion, iheartsl, MV-SL-Fashion tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 7:24 pm by Fayne Khandr

She runs her hand over the curves of her body, leaning across the desk where she kneels to stroke the cheek of the astonished Detective.

“I’m not a bad girl,” she whispers, her lips an inch away from his own, “just a little short on funds.”

The ringing telephone interrupts briefly, and without care the Detective reaches down to pull the wire from the wall. It gives her all the time she needs to reach into the desk and draw the revolver there, already loaded and now held to his head. Read the rest of this entry »

A little continental

Posted in Fashion, iheartsl, MV-SL-Fashion tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:57 pm by Fayne Khandr

There’s very little I recall from the language lessons I had as a child, but should I ever find myself stuck in France with a few Euros and nothing else, I take solace in the fact that I could always locate a bakery and ask for a chocolatey pastry, even if all else was beyond me.

General ignorance aside, I’d like to share ‘The French Bakery’ pose set with you. I was sent a review copy by Flix Saiman of CLICK and was very excited by the vibrant street scene. Built with the professional photographer in mind, this continental set comes complete with Boulangerie, flower stall, fountain and cafe seating area and is loaded with dozens of static poses. The Sound of Silence

“You hesitate to stab me with a word, and know not – silence is the sharper sword.” Samuel Johnson

TART’s cardigan started this look off. I have it in a few colours now; it’s so easy to wear and looks great layered with more summery tops and dresses. Buttoned beneath the chest and falling open below, the jersey stretches around the body, given shape by the puffed sleeves that finish just over the wrists. Read the rest of this entry »
