Frosty Starlight

There for all to see, if you’re only looking…

Even by starlight my feet are looking particularly fabulous cocooned in Gos’s seasonal Slouch Boots. The original boots were released a couple of weeks ago but Gos have just put out a festive quartet colour pack in the same style. The soft leather boots are calf-high, creasing down the leg and set upon a raised wood base with studded join surround and ringed harness detail about the ankle. I’m wearing them in red tartan, but you can also choose from green argyle, silver and gold; the metallics are particularly fun, perfect for accompanying your New Year’s Eve party look and generally good for adding some sparkle to your style. Gothica

We’re all a little strange. It’s just some people are better at hiding it than others.

Carina Larsen of Amacci was kind enough to send me a review copy of her latest skin, Irina. Irina comes in 5 tones, but as it happens I was already working on this look when I saw Irina and immediately chose gothic to work with. There are 16 makeups to choose from, including a couple of barely there looks (handy if you wish to apply other tattoos over the top) although the makeups are very well done and cater for the individual skin colours, so I think you’ll be hard pressed to walk away without picking up a few. I did add some extra mascara and a tattoo on the brow – Glam Affair’s offering at The Dressing Room a couple of weeks ago – for some added drama, but the vivid purple alone leaves quite an impact. There are skin demos available in store, but if you wanted to try the goth skin out then Carina’s released a gift to her group in an exclusive Pumpkin coloured makeup. Definitely worth stopping by the store and having a look. Read the rest of this entry »

Long Grass

Funny – it doesn’t look any greener this side.

I’ve picked up some lovely new clothes this week, and did particularly well at AOHARU. Among the new releases is this sexy silk blouse, unbuttoned to the chest and billowing open to the wide, fold-back collar. Once fitted it’s pretty AO-friendly for the most part; while no-mod it does feature a resize script, but if you’re considering wearing with other prim-based clothing you may want to make sure it can be modified to easily work around. Without a safety net

I’m sure everything will be all right…

This circus girl is a little unconventional, but then I’ve never been a stickler for trend. The look began with a new release from Reale, a frilly dress which I cropped and worked into the styling. The bodice is low-backed halter, adorned with glittering stones on the chest, the material runched all round. The collar is a semi-opaque ruff to the front, sewn to a satin band which ties in a loose bow to the back of the neck. There’s not much the shading on the chest which is a shame, but when worn as intended the skirt runs from quite high up the body so it may be more my redesign at fault; nonetheless it’s very pretty and works very well as the main piece for this styling. Second Guessed

There are some designers who I always seek out in a crowd, and the Accessory Fair drew me to releases from both Illusions and Gos.

Siyu Suen’s Orinthia set has expanded with this necklace and earrings set, the cabochon pendant surrounded with intricate wiring and flowing leaf motif to the base. The earrings mirror the falling leaf shapes, suspended on fine wires – both metal and gemstones are colour change for easy customisation to your look. Read the rest of this entry »

Life Without Theory

There are some beautiful places in Second Life if you just go looking, and while sometimes a studio setting is easier, I really do enjoy a little exploration. It also means you can shift in and out of seasons (and fashions) without too much ado.

I thought I’d keep on my summer tan for this shoot. It’s no secret that I’m a huge Belleza fan: Jesse has a beautiful face and body to match, some of which you can see here. I’m using the cleavage version which sits just perfectly with the oufit, but you have the choice of a less busty style and indeed a hairbase option in each pack. The makeup here has very natural lips and a brush of colour above the eyes in a soft emerald tone: the general shading on the body is defined without being overwhelming, with special care and attention lavished on the face.
