Frosty Starlight

There for all to see, if you’re only looking…

Even by starlight my feet are looking particularly fabulous cocooned in Gos’s seasonal Slouch Boots. The original boots were released a couple of weeks ago but Gos have just put out a festive quartet colour pack in the same style. The soft leather boots are calf-high, creasing down the leg and set upon a raised wood base with studded join surround and ringed harness detail about the ankle. I’m wearing them in red tartan, but you can also choose from green argyle, silver and gold; the metallics are particularly fun, perfect for accompanying your New Year’s Eve party look and generally good for adding some sparkle to your style. Ride On

I got me some horses – to pose with at least.

This look started with the lower section, drawing inspiration from these unusual trousers from LeLutka. The pants are hipster style with exaggerated side pockets that hang wide from the body, contrasting against the skinny legs. There are leather straps of various lengths that accentuate the excess, contrasting in colour with metallic hoops decorating the lengths. The pants are sold in very few shades and are a little pricey for a single pair, but I do like that they’re something different which was what ultimately convinced me to part with my Lindens. Hardly Obscene

…but then you seem to like it anyway?

The Obscene have several wigs on offer at Hair Fair 2010 at bargain prices, including the Hime style. Hime is oddly dramatic, fringe swept to the side, thick and full against the slick pullback that rises to a plumed ponytail. Flicked strands create a spiked edge that falls to lengths of loose hair left trailing in front of the shoulder. The wig is fully mod and I did remove the large pin that is part of the original design; it’s white in colour so you could also tint it if preferred. Read the rest of this entry »

For the camera

Smile for the camera… sure, the crazy balance thing is good too.

Casual clothing can be just as involved as the dressier looks, often relying on accessories in the same way to pull everything together. You have to start with the basics though, and for this look that means a rollneck sweater from Maitreya. There is some great knitwear on the grid, but I like this piece particularly for its precise sculpts. The neck is a snug fit, but is slightly loose and uneven making it a bit more interesting – the long sleeves share these traits, and combined with the two included options of sheer and opaque styles, it makes this jumper a tidy buy. Dandelion Fluff

Posted in Fashion, iheartsl, MV-SL-Fashion tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 2:03 pm by Fayne Khandr

There’s not much left of the Summer, but Miel have given me reason to draw it out a little longer with their gorgeous new Dandy release. The dress comes in two parts and there are options for solid or floral print versions – or buy the ‘uber’ style and get all colours interchangeably for maximum options. Dandy won me over with the fine details; the top is a halter style with pretty bow ties set on top of the shoulders. The skirt is sculpted with a petal-effect on the base, the layers pulling up on the sides of the legs. They’re detailed with baggy side pockets, tied with draw strings, the right side featuring a bouquet of dandelion clocks after which the set is named. There’s also a hand-held bouquet sold as part of the set, with a particle effect that sends seeds spinning clear from your hands at intervals. Read the rest of this entry »

Jealous Tides

Evie Miles posted pictures to Flickr of some of her creations at the weekend, giving me all the encouragement I needed to zip over to her store and make a purchase. I’m wearing part of the Nereida dress in its shortened state, a light and airy gown with panelled skirt flowing from beneath the chest in shades of bright gold and orange. It drapes down to the knee with a white underskirt to add an extra dazzle to the style. I meant to blog sooner but failed miserably: this particular colour was on sale at the weekend, so if you missed it, you may have to settle for one of the other equally gorgeous colours available in store now. Sound Check

No audience and perfect acoustics. Time to get my groove on.

The look starts with a plain jersey dress from Dreams. Available on all layers, you’ll have no trouble finding things to wear with a well-made body con frock; black is always a safe choice but Sanura Snowpaw has plenty of other options available. The detail is there although a little overshadowed in this particular tone, with modifiable prims on the skirt to ensure you can adjust to suit your shape. Read the rest of this entry »

First Train Home

There’s never an engine running when you need one…

I have a penchant for corsets in both lives, and even if you’re not one for underwear as outerwear you can certainly appreciate these modest but flattering designs from Dreams. Boned throughout with a zippered front and interspersed argyle and ribbed panelling, these pretty tops are beautifully shaded to better sculpt your curves. Read the rest of this entry »

Living on the Edge

Posted in Fashion, iheartsl, MV-SL-Fashion tagged , , , , , , , , , , , at 4:09 pm by Fayne Khandr

Before you take a picture you need to strike a pose, and if you’re looking for something new and a little unusual then you might like to look at this wall set from Olive Juice.

One of the signatures of a good pose is that you can capture a shot at a variety of angles and everything still looks good. These poses are beautifully made with no distortion or twisted limbs and offer ample opportunity for setting up unique shots whatever your focus. If you have a creative mind you’ll get an awful lot from this set – I had real difficulty keeping it down to just a few shots for this post, so if you’re interested in seeing a little more then hop over to the Flickr stream (or just run straight over to Olive Juice and test them out for yourself).
